SHEIN vs PandaBuy

SHEIN Spreadsheet: A Single-Brand Store Next to the Many-Shop Hauls PandaBuy Used to Ship

Checked · the PandaBuy Alternatives desk

Short answer

SHEIN and PandaBuy both meant cheap clothing from China, but they worked differently. SHEIN mostly sells its own label: it designs, commissions and sells the clothes, with one consistent size chart and centimetre measurements on each listing. PandaBuy was an agent buying from thousands of independent shops. SHEIN gives 30 days from delivery to return, with the first return per order free and $7.99 for each further one (ConsumerAffairs, Aug 2026). For basics in predictable sizes, SHEIN is simpler; for specific shop finds or streetwear, you still need an agent.

16 shop finds SHEIN doesn't stock

Independent-shop listings bought through an agent. Each tile opens repbuysheet.com. 16 finds here, and 10,000+ products in the catalog the tiles open, filterable by brand and size.

Sponsored links. Photo, name and button all open one listing on repbuysheet.com, where the seller's full photo set, the size options and the source shop link live. Dollar and yuan prices are copied from that catalog on the check date and move with the exchange rate.

SHEIN from ConsumerAffairs (Aug 21, 2026) and Wikipedia; PandaBuy from CNBuyPilot.

Verdict: SHEIN for predictable basics with returns; an agent for specific finds with photos.

Sizing: SHEIN's chart against Weidian's guesswork

Sizing is where SHEIN genuinely beats the agent route. A Weidian shop's 'L' can mean anything; SHEIN's L is the same across its catalogue and each listing shows centimetre measurements. If you've struggled with the Chinese sizes on old PandaBuy rows (170/88A and the like), SHEIN removes that problem for basics.

For agent purchases the fix is measurements: ask the warehouse to measure each piece, and use the size converter and the clothes sheet's sizing table.

Verdict: If sizing burned you on PandaBuy, buy basics from SHEIN and get measurements for everything else.

Using SHEIN and an agent together

A practical split for a former PandaBuy user: plain tees, leggings and simple layers from SHEIN, where returns cover sizing mistakes; distinctive pieces and trainers through an agent, where QC photos cover quality. Keeping the agent parcel to the items that need it lowers its weight and the number of customs categories, which matters in the EU since July 2026.

Returns at SHEIN are cheapest when bundled: the first return from an order is free, so send everything back together. The duty calculator helps price the agent side.

Verdict: Split by need: returns for basics, photos for finds.

Comparing a SHEIN basic with an agent find

SHEIN's own-label model also means its products are designed to its own size chart from the start, which is why sizing is consistent. The flip side is that the range is SHEIN's: if you're looking for a particular independent shop's design, the kind of row PandaBuy sheets were full of, SHEIN won't have it, and lookalike items differ in fabric and cut.

If you're comparing a SHEIN basic with an agent find, line them up on four points:

  1. Fabric: listed composition and weight (gsm) where given.
  2. Measurements: chest and length in centimetres, against a garment you own.
  3. Delivered price: SHEIN's price including delivery against the agent's item price plus its share of freight.
  4. What happens if it's wrong: a SHEIN return within 30 days, or an exchange in China before an agent parcel ships.

SHEIN has faced regulatory and ethical scrutiny over the years, covered on its Wikipedia page; agents' sources face their own questions. Neither route is free of trade-offs, and the how-it-works guide explains what each step of an agent order involves.

Verdict: Compare fabric, measurements, delivered price and recourse. The cheapest sticker rarely wins all four.

One set of measurements for SHEIN and agents

The most useful thing a former PandaBuy buyer can carry between SHEIN and an agent is one set of measurements. Take them once and both kinds of order get easier:

Measurements worth taking once
MeasurementHow to take itUsed for
ChestAround the fullest part, tape levelTops, jackets
WaistAt the natural waist, not the belt lineTrousers, skirts
HipAround the widest partTrousers, dresses
InseamCrotch to ankle along the inside legTrousers
Garment chestArmpit to armpit on a top you like, laid flat, doubledComparing with seller charts

A general method, not taken from SHEIN or any seller.

SHEIN's size guide usually offers both product and body measurements. Weidian sellers mostly list only the garment's own dimensions, so you compare them with the flat measurement of a top that fits. Mixing the two up is the commonest reason an item 'runs small'. The size converter handles label conversions; the tape measure handles the rest.

Verdict: Measure once, check whether a chart is body or garment, and both SHEIN and agent orders get easier.

SHEIN questions

Is SHEIN like PandaBuy?

No. SHEIN designs, commissions and sells mostly its own label, straight to you, with one size chart across the catalogue. PandaBuy, by contrast, bought on your behalf from thousands of small Weidian, Taobao and 1688 shops, and it sent 4 QC photos per item instead of offering returns. Both meant cheap clothing from China. Use SHEIN for basics and an agent for specific shop finds.

What is SHEIN's return policy?

You get 30 days from delivery to send items back. The first return from each order is free, and every further return from that same order costs $7.99, according to ConsumerAffairs in August 2026. That makes bundling worthwhile: decide what's going back and send it all in one parcel. Check the policy page at checkout too, since exceptions apply to some product types.

Is SHEIN sizing consistent?

Largely, yes. Because SHEIN mostly sells its own label, an L means the same thing across the catalogue, and each listing gives centimetre measurements. That's a big change from Weidian, where every shop sets its own chart and Chinese sizes like 170/88A need converting. If sizing burned you on old PandaBuy orders, buy basics from SHEIN and still check the centimetres.

Can I buy PandaBuy links on SHEIN?

No. PandaBuy links point to Weidian or Taobao listings from independent shops, and SHEIN sells only its own catalogue, so there's nothing for the link to open. Convert the link with the link converter and order it through an open agent if you want that exact piece. For plain basics, search SHEIN for an equivalent covered by its 30-day returns. Keep distinctive pieces on the agent route.

Is SHEIN cheaper than an agent?

For basics it often is, once you count that its price includes delivery and the first return per order is free. An agent item adds fees and its share of freight, and since July 2026 an EU agent parcel pays €3 per customs category. For specific shop finds the question doesn't arise, because SHEIN won't stock them. Compare delivered prices, not sticker prices, before deciding.

Should I use SHEIN and an agent together?

Many former PandaBuy users do. A sensible split is plain tees, leggings and simple layers from SHEIN, where 30-day returns cover sizing mistakes, and distinctive pieces or trainers through an agent, where QC photos cover quality. Keeping the agent box to items that need it cuts its weight and the number of EU customs categories. Split your list by need before ordering either.

How do I measure myself for SHEIN and Weidian sizing?

Take four body measurements once: chest, waist at the natural waist, hip at the widest point, and inseam from crotch to ankle. Then lay a well-fitting top flat, measure armpit to armpit and double it. SHEIN's guide usually offers body and product figures; Weidian sellers mostly list garment dimensions. Match body numbers to body charts and garment numbers to garment charts.

Do SHEIN sizes match the sizes on Weidian?

Not reliably. SHEIN applies one chart across its own label, but every Weidian shop writes its own, so an M from one seller can fit like an L from another, and some use Chinese sizes such as 170/88A. Mixing up body and garment measurements is the usual cause of items running small. Compare centimetres on both and ignore the letter.

The PandaBuy history leans on court records, police-side reporting and Wikipedia; agent fees, storage and review counts come from each agent's own pages or the named trackers.
